UPICO has a dedicated team of professionals from different disciplines such as marketing, management, financial and engineering & technology etc. having vast experience in their respective fields. UPICO is carrying outs its activities through following divisions covering the needs of variety of entrepreneurs:

Project Consultancy Division :

This division offers comprehensive services from the stage of concept to commissioning of a project. It widely covers identification, formulation and tech-economic studies of projects and also provides detailed engineering and turn-key services.

The consultancy services mainly include the following:

(a) Identification of project opportunities.

(b) Preparation of tech-economic feasibility reports including detailed project reports.

(c) Undertaking market surveys on behalf of entrepreneurs at state and national level.

(d) Preparation of appraisal report for financial institutions.

(e) Preparation of project profiles and market survey report for benefit of new entrepreneurs.

(f) Preparation of valuation reports for fixed and current assets of existing units for the purpose of revaluation and working capital assistance etc.

Technology Transfer Division :

The organization is playing an important role in the transfer of technology. This division locates and arranges transfer of appropriate technology to the prospective entrepreneur. The functions are carried out through a Technology Bank which keeps track of new developments in technologies elsewhere in the world.

UPICO keeps on participating in various seminars at national and international level to keep track of the various technologies commercially exploitable by the entrepreneurs in the context of Indian circumstances.

Rural Project Division :

With the continuing emphasis on development of rural sector, UPICO has opened a rural project division for providing consultancy services by way of transfer of suitable technology befitting the rural environment thereby raising the income levels of rural and tribal folks.

Management Services Division :

This division offers services for corporate planning, inventory control, financial planning, collaboration arrangement, labour relations, industrial management, business administration etc. It also imparts consultancy services in the field of marketing by way of market intelligence studies and market surveys etc. The studies relating to corporate plans and its achievement, remedies for achieving corporate goals to desired extent etc. are undertaken in this division. The work audit as per the demand of client is also carried out with a view to assess the effective work force required in the industry or institution with minimum financial burden. The division also undertakes recruitment of suitable professionals and other candidates on behalf of indenting institutions. These recruitments are made impartially and based on real assessment of candidates' ability and qualification.

Revival and Modernization Division :

This division offers services towards rehabilitation and modernization of sick industries by way of offering suggestions towards technical and process improvement, modernization and expansion of existing project set-up, restructuring of financial and managerial structure. market planning through market research and then suggesting suitable product mix and technology etc.

Export and NRI Division :

This is a new division of UPICO which helps entrepreneurs in promoting export of their products by way of identifying appropriate foreign buyers and arranging business transactions between them. Similarly, non-resident Indians interested to make investments in India, are approached and furnished with required data to enable them to finalise their project plans.

Non Conventional Energy Division :

This is a new division recently opened in UPICO under the guidance of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA). This division offers consultancy services with regard to utilisation of non-conventional energy sources, conservation of energy and its management and audit so that entrepreneur may be benefited towards gaining optimum efficiency in their process with minimum input of energy.

Training and EDP Division :

This division looks after the training needs of entrepreneurs and executives throughout the State. A large number of specially designed programmes are being conducted at the instance of government departments, financial institutions and commercial banks etc. with a view to motivate and improve the latent talent of potential entrepreneurs. Special training programmes are organised for the managers, entrepreneurs and workers as per the need of the client. UPICO is conducting a number of practical training programmes under MEGSAT (Mass Employment Generation through Science and Technology) Scheme of the Government of India. Special programmes are organized for women entrepreneurs and for the entrepreneurs belonging to Scheduled and Backward castes.

VRS Division :

This division organises programmes under NRF Scheme of the Government of India for rehabilitation and deployment of Voluntary Retired Persons from industries and public sector undertakings. Besides the Head Office, these programmes are also organised through satellite offices at Saharanpur, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Dehradun, Ghaziabad. Under this activity, UPICO identifies the VRS personnel from public and private sector undertakings and then provides motivation through counseling and behavioral treatment for rehabilitation and deployment. Real on-job training is provide to these personnel on the basis of their past experience and aptitude so that they may go for their own venture or may suitably be deployed in other industries where their skill and experience can be fruitfully utilized.

Food Processing Service Center Division :

In order to provide better services to food processing industries through modernisation and transfer of technology, UPICO, in collaboration with Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore and Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, has opened a separate center at Kanpur. The activities of the center are looked after by professionally qualified and experienced technocrats connected with food processing.
